Arizona’s Oldest Mesquite Source
Tumacácori Mesquite Sawmill takes broad efforts to legally harvest and acquire mesquite biomass. This is material from mesquite trees including limbs, stumps, roots, etc., – all by-products of land management or ecosystem restoration projects.
“The Sawmill” grinds the mesquite biomass into an ever changing inventory of mesquite lumber and one of a kind fine mesquite interior furnishings. The “scraps” or remnants, are used to create smaller craft items including our most popular – cutting boards and crosses. Even the sawdust is utilized by a local organic farm!
Our base of operation is located in the beautiful Santa Cruz Valley of Southern Arizona, in the historic community of Tumacácori, located just 1.5 miles south of Tubac. Our mill is in the heart of the mesquite “Bosque” (forest) region of the Sonoran Desert. Over the years, the sawmill has become a destination for many visitors who enjoy seeing the transformation of mesquite into stunning one-of-a-kind heirlooms and learning about mesquite, a true desert treasure.
Tumacácori Mesquite is owned and operated by Art and Valerie. Together, they have been producing mesquite lumber, beautiful interiors, and craft products at the same site for nearly 40 years. Art and Valerie, personally invite you to see their operation and look forward to showing you around.
