Detailed Information

The Tubac Nature Center (TNC) arrived on the scene in 2019. It is incorporated under Arizona law, and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under Federal tax law. Its mission is to provide environmental education and recreation, focused on protecting the nearby Santa Cruz River ecosystem. To carry out this mission TNC has its exhibits and headquarters at the Community Center in Tubac. In addition, it provides activities, such as weekly bird walks and hikes, nature walks, nature science classes for kids, the hawk watch in March, dark sky outings, lectures by experts, and other events that foster education about the natural world. TNC has an all volunteer staff that manages the center and assists in the various activities that help visitors learn about nature and enjoy the Santa Cruz River ecosystem. In late 2022, TNC will receive a donation of 160 acres of land along the river. The Tubac Nature Preserve, as it will be named, will be planned and used primarily to protect the river and the habitat that surrounds it. Another important aspect of TNC’s mission is to enhance the site so that visitors can better appreciate the site’s flora and fauna. TNC is proud to partner with the Anza Trail Coalition and Friends of the Santa Cruz River in the goal of protecting the river environment.Open Hours: Change seasonally, check our website at tubacnaturecenter.com
