Mary is an eclectic artist who creates and resurrects furniture and recycled home decor into unique functional pieces. Her company “Play a New Tune”  describes her whimsical and colorful artwork that is sold in gallery/spaces in Tucson, Bisbee, Patagonia and Tubac, AZ and Santa Fe, NM.  Her design philosophy “Red is totally a Neutral” allows for expansive transitions from old into new. Her first medium was working in fabric and she created and sold close to 250 dolls at her first juried art show. Then she moved into assemblage/home decor incorporating love of the all things southwest into her artwork. During the COVID pandemic she made, sold and/or donated over 850 masks. She also creates and sells hundreds of mixed media greeting cards. 
 
She and her husband Dave, lived in Kansas City for many years. Dave, a psychologist with the military moved from Manhattan, KS in 2016 to Sierra Vista where he works in behavioral health at Ft. Huachuca. Mary’s career always centered on promoting and elevating international awareness in corporate, government and university settings. She worked as International Licensing manager at Hallmark Cards, Managing Director at the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and served as Special Assistant to the Associate Provost at the Kansas State University Office of International Programs. They have two children, (graduates from Kansas State University) who currently work in Washington, DC and Manhattan, KS.
