The Famous Juan Bautista de Anza Expeditions to California Presentation by Jack Lasseter

Saturday, January 18, 2pm

This is the story, as only Jack can tell it, of Juan Bautista de Anza’s two famous trips in the1770s, in which he guided Spanish immigrants overland from Tubac to California, first to Monterrey, and then to settle what would become today’s San Francisco.  Who went, why did they go, and what was it like on the trail?  It was one of the most important expeditions in the history of the West; some historians say more so than that of Lewis and Clark, and its story is fascinating. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. $15 per lecture. Please call for reservations and future dates, 520-398-2252. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the community effort to “Save the Presidio.”
