Special Exhibit: When Bronc Busters Wore Lipstick-Opening Reception
November 3, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
A glimpse into the showy, skilled and high-risk lives of cowgirls of the early 1900s is highlighted in a new exhibit at the Presidio. The display includes rare items from Western enthusiast and preservationist Cheri Raftery, who calls her collection “very personal,” and says she’s proud to be retaining a small piece of forgotten history. Authentic cowgirl dress, historic photos and original artwork of them riding in rodeos and exhibitions put the cowgirls in context. Included are cowgirl skirts, bronc belts, hats, cuffs, spurs, riding boots, saddles, gear and more. The exhibit runs through the summer of 2018. Included with park admission: $5 adult, $2 youth 7-13, children free.
