Pozole Varieties in Sonora & Mexico

May 22, 2015 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am

$2 - $7.50

Presentation: Pozole Varieties in Sonora & Mexico
We are pleased to host Sonoran anthropologist Rene Córdova from the INSTITUTO SONORENSE DE CULTURA to speak on the culinary, historic and geographic diversity of Sonoran Pozole. The principal ingredients of pre-Columbian maize and Old World pork seasoned with chile reveal its mixed origins. There are many varieties of pozole. In Sonora the introduction of wheat by missionaries like Father Kino generated Pozole de Trigo, a pozole that includes wheat instead of maize. We will enjoy special refreshments! $7.50 adult, $2 youth 7-13, children free.
