Earth Harmony Festival
October 5, 2012 - October 7, 2012Free
Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage and Global Change Multi-Media present the Earth Harmony Festival, a weekend celebration of living in environmental, social, spiritual, & musical harmony.
The vision of the Earth Harmony Festival is to encourage a restoration of balance to the world’s people and ecosystems through awareness, cooperation, education, understanding, selflessness, and a commitment to peace and unity without uniformity. Festival coordinator, TiyiEndea Myszka says, “This year’s Earth Harmony Festival shares some practical solutions to the social and environmental issues we face in our world today.”
The Earth Harmony Festival is held at Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage, one of the largest member ecovillages in the world, nestled on 165-acres in the beautiful Santa Cruz Valley. Their sustainable practices include organic farming, education and the preservation of food diversity, permaculture principles, green building techniques, water harvesting, composting, alternative clean energy, and more. Avalon Gardens’ Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program was the first established in Arizona, feeding more than 100 people since 1995.
Activities at the festival will include live music, food, arts & crafts, eco booths, hands-on demonstrations, organic garden & ecovillage tours, children’s village activities, hay rides, pony rides, and special presentations by Master Gardeners, Kamon Lilly, Tarenta Baldeschi, and internationally-celebrated author Gary Paul Nabhan. Nabhan is a conservation biologist, a seed saver, and sustainable agriculture activist who has been called “the father of the local food movement”.
